Plantation

After completion of construction phase, since 2007 we have been planting different types of plants biannually in spring and monsoon. Apart from 5000 trees we have already planted 2000 roses and 500 ornamental plants. In monsoon plantation, we will plant 3000 more trees. Grass has already been planted over approx. 10,800 square meter of land. We plan to plant grass over another 10,000 square meter of land in near future.

The plantation on one side has brought a positive change in the physical outlook of the plant and on the other hand it helps to offset the effects of the CO2 emissions from our operation. However, it should be noted that the emissions from our plant are well within the NEQS permissible limits.

Emission Monitoring

Lafarge is committed to operate its facilities in a manner which meets local laws, standards & regulations and state of the art environmental management system requirements.

We have ascertained minimum exposure of our employees & the communities around our sites to environmental, health & safety risks by employing safe technologies and operating procedures.

We are working to minimize use of non renewable resources.

We are continuously getting our gaseous & particulate matter emissions monitored by SGS.

The latest monitoring report by SGS gives:

-   NOx = 616 mg/Nm3 (NEQS Limit 1200 mg/Nm3)

-   Particulate matter = 117.92 mg/Nm3 (NEQS Limit 300 mg/Nm3)

Lafarge’s active participation in the industry-wide initiatives and the focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions are important contributions to sustainability in the cement industry.

Water Conservation

One of our Principles of action is that we take a responsible attitude towards the environment. Lafarge’s environment strategy shows a strong and innovative commitment in terms of leadership.

Being a global Leader in building materials, Lafarge has taken special pride in conserving environment. Gaseous emission and dust are well within the national standards.
